GÖRLITZ Schweiz AG, the first foreign based subsidiary of GÖRLITZ AG, was established in Switzerland in 1999. With this step, GÖRLITZ responded to the growing demand of Swiss energy suppliers for intelligent and comprehensive systems for data communication.
Consequently Switzerland provides its own human resources, not only for software, but also in the application of device technology. Initial projects indicate that the country is on the brink of extensive market developments in the power industry. It is also extremely advanced when one considers SWEP, the Swiss electricity-price index installed in March 1998 to serve as a basis in the energy business. For many years now, Switzerland has been playing an important role as a "power hub" in the energy flow from North to South which naturally gives it a head start over potential German suppliers. Switzerland is not only a transit land at the physical intersection point of the European networks, but with its Alpine power plants it covers the demand peaks at home and abroad. Countries with a high proportion of nuclear, coal or crude oil power stations cannot avail of these advantages to the same extent. Even in the first financial year, GÖRLITZ Schweiz AG could successfully book a respectable number of projects to its credit. Today vital participants in the Swiss energy market are customers and challenging projects such as in the field of PLC (Power Line Carrier) Technology are in the pipeline.
