EuroDCS extends service packet for industrial customers - [07.12.2006]

Koblenz (SI): EuroDCS Energiedaten AG has extended its activities; special hardware and software packets, coupled to a web service, help industrial customers to quickly locate energy wasters.

Rising energy costs are a source of great concern to both medium and larger sized industrial customers. Intermediate measurements at various consumption points are absolutely vital to locate unnecessary energy consumption, the so-called energy wasters. These can be localised and visualised quickly and reliably with a perfect solution from EuroDCS. A fully configured meter cabinet is installed to record precisely consumption data. The cabinet can be installed by a local electrician, either connected directly or over a transducer. The data are transmitted via GPRS to the EuroDCS clearing centre and the customer can immediately view and analyse his data on the EuroDCS website.

Smart Metering in Germany: New symposium 2007 - [04.12.2006]

Düsseldorf (HO): At international level Smart Metering has been the major topic at conventions and exhibitions for quite a while now. The theme has gained momentum in Germany and for the first time a Smart Metering Symposium will be held in Düsseldorf on March 5th - 6th 2007. It is a platform where opinions can be exchanged regarding Automated Metering and Billing for Residential Customers.

Smart metering is synonymous with automatic metering and the automated processes that are linked to it. Intelligent information technology is necessary, both centralised and decentralised. When the meter, the reader and the billing system are to unite, a combining element is required to undertake the exchange and the control, one which will steer the process.

Consequently the focal point of the event will be the following issues:
What is the combining element to enable such an optimal process control? Do the new meters really provide an extensive solution? What are the necessary financial steps and the risks involved? What are the roles of the legislators and the metering point operators in an AMM project?

Answers will be given to these questions at the two-day symposium sponsored by the VWEW Publishing Company. Qualified lectures from renowned speakers and the accompanying exhibition will shed light on the subject of smart metering and enable one to gain insight to the practise.
